*Updated* Brea Jiu-Jitsu Closed during Brasileiros

**Update: A previous version of this post said we would be closed Wednesday-Monday. Nolan received a bye and we were able to update travel plans accordingly. The dates have been updated**

We will be closed from PM classes on Friday, May 1st through Monday, May 4th for the Brasileros (Brazilian Nationals) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Brasileiros is one of the four “Grand Slam” events in BJJ. Our AM adult classes will still take place during this period taught by coach Matt Grant.

Nolan, who is already in Brazil ahead of the tournament, will be in a very tough division which includes the sports #1 pound for pound grappler and 7x world champion Erich Munis as well as his incredibly tough teammate Vinicius Liberate – who he faced in the finals of the 2026 Pan Championships to earn gold in a close match. Erich has continuously won a world title since 2021 and we are talking every step to raise win probability.

The BJJ media is already excited ahead of the matchup as Nolan represents a new and hungry up and coming generation…..and lets face it…Erich signed up so an American would not win Brazilian Nationals. His signup came mere minutes after Nolan’s victory over Vinicius at Pans.

We don’t like closing like this! However, we need all hands on deck to try and emerge with the gold here and we need jet lag mitigation on Dans end to be mentally sharp during the match. Thank you for your understanding!
